John Cena declared his entry into the 2025 Royal Rumble in the most exciting way possible - potentially setting the road to his final WrestleMania match. His father broke his silence regarding the Rumble announcement and made a bold prediction for the event in Indianapolis.
Veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter spoke to John Cena Sr. in a Sportskeeda Wrestling Exclusive interview. Apter asked Cena Sr. about his thoughts on his son's retirement run, Royal Rumble announcement, and potential WrestleMania opponent in Las Vegas.
John Cena's father broke his silence and stated with confidence that he believes his son will win the Royal Rumble for a record-tying third time this year. He said that his son will do it for the fans:
"I believe he's going to come out the winner. The stuff he puts on his shirts - 'Never give up', 'Never quit', 'Hustle, Loyalty, Respect'...if he says he's going to do it, I know he's going to do his damndest to get it done. If nothing else, he'll do it for the fans, to make sure the fans have what they want. So my money is on John Cena at the Royal Rumble." (5:12-5:34)

Undoubtedly the biggest achievement that Cena can accomplish in his final run is World Championship #17 - a record that will set him apart from even Ric Flair, who he remains tied with at 16 World Championships.
On the RAW on Netflix Premiere, John Cena gave fans a disappointing update - he didn't feel like World Title #17 was possible. The reason for this was that he hasn't won a singles match in WWE since April 27th, 2018.
During the promo, that made it 2,446 days since his last win. That number is now touching 2,450. However, he then realized that the Royal Rumble is approaching and seemed to have a change of heart - declaring his entry and making his WrestleMania intentions clear.
Should Cena win the 2025 Royal Rumble in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, he will tie Stone Cold Steve Austin for the most number of Royal Rumble wins - three. It's something that many fans seem excited to possibly see. The 2025 Rumble looks like it could be the most stacked one in years.
