RAW's debut on Netflix featured the return of many WWE legends, such as Hulk Hogan, The Rock, and The Undertaker. However, one major name missing from the show was Stone Cold Steve Austin. Wrestling veteran Vince Russo speculated on the reason behind The Texas Rattlesnake's absence.
Stone Cold Steve Austin was last seen on WWE programming at WrestleMania 38, where he made his presence felt on both nights. It was reported that the company tried to bring him in at WrestleMania 40 for the Roman Reigns-Cody Rhodes match, but plans didn't materialize. The same thing reportedly happened before RAW's debut on Netflix.
On Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo speculated that Stone Cold Steve Austin had real-life heat with someone in WWE and that is why he refused to show up on important shows. He also questioned The Texas Rattlesnake's relationship with Triple H.
"I make the point that with Steve, it’s not just about money. There’s gotta be some heat there. Because Steve, he doesn’t do these things. I gotta believe now it is not about money. He’s probably not happy about beer, he’s not happy with that, as now they are gonna sponsor Hogan’s beer. Who knows what his relationship is with Triple H. There is a lot more to it with Austin than just the money." [From 18:07 onwards]
Other than The Undertaker, John Cena, The Rock, and Hulk Hogan, Nikki Bella and X-Pac also appeared on the historic episode of RAW. Cena kicked off his farewell tour, while The Final Boss addressed the success of WWE and praised Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.
