The Motor City Machine Guns defended the WWE Tag Team Championship last week against The Street Profits, only for an indecisive DQ finish to occur. They made a surprising announcement about their next title defense.
Backstage on SmackDown this week, the duo of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin were with their good friend Johnny Gargano, who has been trying to make sense of the actions of his partner Tommaso Ciampa. It was the latter who interrupted the Tag Team Title match last week. Even The Street Profits hit MCMG with cheap shots after the bout.
Regardless, The Motor City Machine Guns made it clear to Gargano backstage that The Street Profits will get the next title shot, not DiY. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins swooped in to make it clear to Gargano.
It's a bit surprising that they put Gargano aside, but it's a logical decision for the champions, as their bout against The Street Profits ended indecisively. The WWE Tag Team Division on SmackDown has begun to heat up quickly. The same can't be said for RAW.
We wouldn't be surprised to see Ciampa getting involved once again.
It could inevitably lead to a Triple Threat Tag Team Title match.
