The Bloodline has captivated the WWE Universe for more than three years now. The fan-favorite storyline has gone through several swerves and surprises, turns and additions, and championship changes, among other key developments. Ahead of the massive WarGames match, Paul Heyman made a bold statement on The Bloodline and revealed more scoops behind the faction.
The Wiseman has been praised by many for being the best creative genius that pro wrestling has ever seen. No stranger to compelling storylines, Heyman has had ties to legendary programs in WCW, the original ECW, WWE, and so on. The New York City native is an integral part of The Bloodline's on-screen dynamic, but he's also worked with the faction behind the scenes since day one.
Heyman has now declared that The Bloodline saga is the number one storyline in wrestling history. Speaking to SHAK Wrestling of CBS Sports, it was noted how the 2024 Hall of Famer has been involved with many great programs over the years, and he's seen many top storylines come and go. Heyman was asked where he would rank the current Bloodline saga among the greatest stories told in wrestling.
Heyman ranked this as the number one storyline mainly due to its longevity. He went on to compare it to some other legendary storylines in WWE's history, including the feuds involving the Four Horsemen, nWo, Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage, and Hogan vs. Roddy Piper.
"Because of this storyline's longevity, I had to rank it number one. (...) So, just in terms of overall story-telling, the constant ebb and flow of affecting other people's environment in the roster, and how they tell their stories... I would suggest it's the most significant," Paul Heyman said. [From 6:35 to 7:26]
The Special Counsel continued:
"It's the biggest money-drawing, has the most longevity, has held the most interest. Overall, it has done so by being the most intriguing and compelling because at every turn, you see the characters, not just turn toward what the story calls for, but the long-term affects of the development of the character, and their evolution, is never lost on us. So, if something happens that changes Roman Reigns in 2022, we don't disavow knowledge of it in 2024, it plays into what's happening in 2024. So, because of that, and because we keep it consistent, I would have to rank it number one. All false humility aside [smiles]," Paul Heyman said. [From 7:27 to 8:26]
Heyman recently returned to the Bloodline story after being away since June following a beatdown by Solo Sikoa and The New Bloodline. The former ECW boss brought CM Punk to be the mystery fifth man for The OG Bloodline in the WarGames match at Survivor Series, but there is increased speculation on who Heyman will align with after Saturday - Reigns or Punk.
WWE will return to Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia on Saturday for the 38th annual Survivor Series Premium Live Event. The big event will air live on Peacock at 6 pm ET.
After much speculation, the lineup for Men's WarGames is now official. CM Punk will join Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn to take on Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Bronson Reed.
Friday's SmackDown will feature Jey vs. Jacob to determine the WarGames advantage. The OG Bloodline vs. The New Bloodline is expected to main-event this Saturday's PLE.
