WWE recently made an unfortunate announcement regarding Cody Rhodes ahead of tonight's RAW. The Undisputed WWE Champion will be absent from the upcoming Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event.
The 39-year-old is currently involved in an intense rivalry with fellow SmackDown Superstar Kevin Owens. The former allies confronted each other during the most recent edition of the blue brand's show. The American Nightmare and KO had a heated exchange, during which they agreed to lock horns inside the squared circle in the future.
As the match was not officially announced, wrestling fans speculated if they would battle each other at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. However, the wrestling promotion recently took to its official X (Twitter) handle to announce that The Prizefighter would challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14.
This means Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will not be part of Survivor Series: WarGames.
"There's no love lost between the two. @CodyRhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against @FightOwensFight at Saturday Night's Main Event!" the post stated.
Cody Rhodes recently invited a WWE legend to make his return on The Grandest Stage of Them All in Las Vegas next year. At WrestleMania 38, former WWE World Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin came out of retirement to defeat KO in a No Holds Barred Match.
During a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez at ComplexCon, it was revealed that The American Nightmare had invited The Texas Rattlesnake for a WrestleMania 41 appearance.
The SmackDown Superstar further extended the invitation while pointing out that Steve Austin could be helicoptered to the show in Las Vegas. Rhodes also praised the veteran for his incredible work during The Attitude Era.
"He’s also not far. I mean, we could helicopter him Great American Bash style. I think Stone Cold Steve Austin being [sic], you know, we’re talking inside here, but this babyface individual, and we’re back in this unbelievable era where there are good guys in the business again. Here was the ultimate babyface who had the company on his back. I just would like him to be around to see how we’re doing," he said. [From 4:22 onwards]

Stone Cold Steve Austin did not make it to WrestleMania XL due to prior commitments. It remains to be seen if he will show up at The Showcase of The Immortals next year.
