Vince Russo and Hulk Hogan may not see eye to eye, but the former WWE writer once saved a friend of Hulkamania's from getting attacked by a female wrestling legend. The 63-year-old recently opened up about the same.
As Russo recalled during a recent edition of BroDown on Backstage Pass, he pushed away Awesome Kong from Bubba the Love Sponge, or, as he implied, she would've mauled him to death.
"Do you know, Mac? I was the guy who ripped Awesome Kong off Bubba the Love Sponge. It was me, bro. I didn't know that I saved Bubba's life. I saved his life, bro, 'cause she was mauling him like a bear, and I stepped in," he said. [From 1:02:31 onwards]
Elsewhere on the podcast, Vince Russo revealed how he thought he was hit by a ''freight train'' when trying to break up a scuffle between Sunny (aka Tamara Lynn Sytch) and Luna Vachon back in WWE during the 1990s.
"I'm backstage and, like, there was no one else around. And, and here in my port is it peripheral vision. I see Sunny mouthing off to Luna. There's no one else inside, and I'm like, I'm like, 'She is going to kill this girl.' So Mac I go over there. I try to stand between them. Okay, bro. Behind me, she's still mouthing off to Luna," he added.
Vince Russo continued:
"I didn't want to just turn and say, 'Will you shut that F up?' I was like, 'Are you serious? You want to p*ss her? Are you nuts?' So, bro, she's going on yapping, yapping, yapping, bro. Luna goes through me; takes me down to get to Sunny, Mac. I was never hit so hard in my life. I felt like I got hit by a freaking freight train." [From 1:02:51 onwards]
