WWE veteran Randy Orton had an epic reaction to CM Punk's return to the Stamford-based company at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023. The Viper initially pretended to be angry and then had a wholesome chat with Punk backstage.
At Survivor Series: WarGames 2023, Punk made his WWE return after nine long years and took the pro-wrestling world by storm. Meanwhile, 14-time World Champion Randy Orton made his long-awaited return after an 18-month hiatus that same night and competed in the Men's WarGames Match.
After the match, CM Punk came out, and the arena exploded! The capacity crowd gave a loud ovation to The Best in The World that night as he stood on the entrance ramp. After his return, Punk headed backstage, where he met several top WWE names, including Randy Orton. The company shared unseen footage of Punk's return on its YouTube channel on Monday (November 25).
Here's what Orton said to Punk during their backstage interaction:
"Can I not enjoy 10 minutes of my f**king return?"
Earlier this year, The Viper appeared on WWE's The Bump. He opened up about Punk's return to the Stamford-based promotion on the same night he came back to action after an injury-related hiatus. Here's what he said:
"I can tell that I’ve matured a lot because a part of me wanted to be irate, right, like this was taken from me; this reaction from the crowd that I’d been looking forward to for 18 months. But after all was said and done, I came out and got a great reaction. Punk came out and got a great reaction, and I realized after the fact that nobody stepped on anyone’s toes!" [H/T: Fightful]
CM Punk has done incredibly well for himself over the past 12 months or so. The veteran finished off his lengthy feud with Drew McIntyre this past October and is now focused on Survivor Series: WarGames 2024.
The Second City Saint will complete alongside Roman Reigns' OG Bloodline in the Men's WarGames Match on November 30.
