Legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette has chimed in on the botched elbow strikes that Pete Dunne gave Kofi Kingston during their match on RAW last week. He thinks WWE had a conversation with the former NXT UK Champion after the bout.

During the match, The Brusierweight hit the New Day member on the back of the head several times with his elbow while the latter was lying face-down on the mat. The clip was shared on social media and many fans criticized Pete Dunne for the botch.

Speaking on the latest edition of the Jim Cornette Drive-Thru, the WWE veteran legend pointed out that the RAW star was just hitting himself instead of his opponent and that it looked bad.

"The longer he did it, the worse it looked, and the less care he was taking with it," said Cornette. "By the last couple, he was just punching the mat straight down... If you’re delivering blows, you should be able to tell how it looks. Somebody needs to mention that to him. I bet you they did. 'Take that one out and workshop it in practice or whatever, but take it out off of television.'" [27:40 - 32:01]

Jim Cornette says he would be interested in returning to WWE in a managerial role for one night

Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk is a match that many fans would love to see today. The OTC has a manager, and his name is Paul Heyman.

Jim Cornette was asked whether he would be open to returning to WWE to manage CM Punk for one night only if the latter were to wrestle Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

"That is never going to be a thing that ever takes place, but yeah. If they want to give me a WrestleMania payoff to manage Punk at Churchill Downs in Louisville, I’ll do it. (...) As long as I can drive [if it's in a different location], and hey, if for a big enough payday, I'll leave a couple hours or a couple days beforehand, so I've got a pretty good range there... Nevertheless, no, I'll go. So now the deal is almost done; we just got to get the paperwork from the office," said Cornette.

Jim managing CM Punk in WWE would be very interesting. However, it's unlikely that will ever happen.
