The Rock has had more WWE returns over the past two years than he had since 2013. The Final Boss last appeared at Bad Blood, when he showed up during the closing moments of the pay-per-view to confront Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Fans have since laid down speculations as it pertains to Rocky's next potential appearance with the company.
While he has no doubt The Rock would return, JBL sees the possibility of a Corporation-inspired angle to set up his next appearance. Responding to fans during Live Q&A on Backstage Pass, JBL said he hopes to see WWE revive the Corporation angle for The People's Champion.
"I hope so. I thought it was so good. How lucky are we to have The Rock?! This is the biggest movie star in the freakin world. Knowing that he's a third generation wresler, I get all that, but how lucky are we that he still cares enough to come back. I think it's just a blessing, man. I think it's wonderful that The Rock comes back and does stuff like that," stated JBL. [39:47 onwards]
With Rock already playing a heel role on WWE television, his first since 2003, fans (and JBL) have more than one reason to believe a Corporation 2.0 angle could set the tone for The Great One's return to the promotion. The original Corporation angle had the real-life Dwayne adopt a 'Corporate Champion' moniker against fan favorite Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Rocky's stint with The Corporation (later The Corporate Ministry) would become the catalyst in driving Vince McMahon to turn him babyface due to position fan reaction. The People's Champion would leave the faction altogether in 1999 to become the solo star fans love to this day.
As of this writing, there's no update on Rocky's next WWE appearance. With Suvivor Series: WarGames coming up this Saturday, fans can only hope for The Final Boss to make a surprise appearance.
