Former WWE writer Vince Russo recently discussed Damian Priest's booking on RAW. The star is gearing up to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.

This week, Priest interrupted The Ring General and declared that the champ couldn't beat him. Gunther was irate and blindsided Priest. However, the brawl ended with the ARcher of Infamy delivering a Razor's Edge to the champion and putting him through the announce table.

This week on Legion of RAW, Russo detailed that Gunther should have been the one-getter who got the better of Priest in the lead-up to their match. He felt Damian Priest would ultimately lose the match at Survivor Series due to some shenanigans. This would protect the challenger and was the easy booking route WWE should have taken.

"The whole idea is you want to get heat, heat, heat because you want to see the babies go over at the big show. You could easily have done that. Priest gets screwed somehow, someway, at Survivor Series, so you protect him. It's very easy to do," Russo said. [From 5:36 onwards]

Damian Priest has been very impressive leading up to the massive collision at Survivor Series. He has emerged as the first opponent that Gunther seems threatened by.

It will be interesting to see if the Ring General can emerge from Survivor Series as the World Heavyweight Champion.
