WWE's CM Punk takes a dig at former AEW World Champion

At WWE Bad Blood, CM Punk seemingly ended his lengthy rivalry with Drew McIntyre in a violent Hell in a Cell Match. He will now be taking some time off. Before Punk walked out of the arena on last week's RAW, the company planted the seeds for his program against Seth Rollins. Amid his hiatus, Punk jokingly took a dig at former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe.

Punk may have left AEW on bad terms, but he looks back fondly on the last time he performed for the Tony Khan-led promotion. The Second City Saint's final bout in All Elite Wrestling came at All In 2023 against Samoa Joe. The Samoan Submission Machine and the WWE veteran locked horns for the AEW World Championship.

Samoa Joe and Punk share a storied history. They had numerous classic matches in Ring of Honor before The Second City Saint joined WWE for the first time. On his Instagram Story, the former WWE Champion reflected on working with Joe by making a joke about his "big" head.

"It's shocking I ever got my arms around a head so big. @samoajoe," CM Punk wrote, saluting his on-screen rival and real-life friend.

Punk vs. Rollins is a bout that has been years in the making. They were originally slated to square off at WrestleMania XL before The Best in the World got injured at Royal Rumble 2024.

What Seth Rollins had to say about WWE's nixed WrestleMania plans with CM Punk

Seth Rollins joined Cody Rhodes to take on Roman Reigns and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in the main event of WrestleMania XL Night One. He also unsuccessfully defended the World Heavyweight Championship on Night Two against Drew McIntyre.

Rollins' sacrifice for Rhodes has become a topic of conversation, as the former has yet to address it following his return. Instead, he is after 'Big' Bronson Reed and appears to have a grudge against CM Punk. He wants Punk to return soon so that he can force the latter to retire for good.

In April 2024, Seth Rollins confirmed that there were plans for him to work with The Best in the World. However, he added that if it were up to him, the bout would have never been planned to begin with.

"A match against Punk, that was never on my radar, I believed I would never see that guy again. I thought that until I saw him at Survivor Series."

It's worth noting that before Punk and McIntyre decided to settle things once and for all inside the Cell. Before the bout, the former AEW World Champion also teased a program with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
