Wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell recently spoke about Triple H and WWE planning to take the Royal Rumble to Saudi Arabia. The country is an important partner in WWE's vision for global expansion.
PWInsider reported that WWE was planning to take the major event to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This would be the first time the country plays host to one of the big four WWE premium live events.
On the latest episode of Smack Talk, Mantell claimed it was too far in the future to worry about. He joked that he wouldn't even be around by the time the event took place. However, the wrestling veteran pointed out that WWE has held major shows in the country before, and hosting the Royal Rumble would not be a problem.
"Too far in the future for me. Hell, I might not even be here." He continued, "But they've done pay-per-views before from Saudi Arabia right?" [From 46:30 onwards]
It is interesting to note that Saudi Arabia once hosted the Greatest Royal Rumble event during the Vince McMahon regime.
Other than this, the country has also been the venue for numerous other special shows such as Crown Jewel, Night of Champions, Elimination Chamber, King and Queen of the Ring, and Super Showdown.
