Chelsea Green has long advocated for her husband Matt Cardona's return to WWE. The Women's United States Champion also has the support of fans in this matter, which, according to her, is not surprising.
Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, was released from the global juggernaut in 2020 due to budget cuts resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the former Intercontinental Champion has made a name for himself on the Independent Circuit and has worked for other major wrestling promotions around the world.
Many formerly released stars have returned to the Stamford-based promotion ever since Triple H took control of the company's creative department. This also included Chelsea Green, who has been doing the best work of her career since returning. The female star has also stated her desire to see her husband return to his old hunting ground. Fans on X/Twitter also largely share the same sentiment, to which Chelsea reacted with a two-word message.
"Zero surprise," Green on fans wating to see Matt Cardona return to WWE.
Chelsea Green was also released from WWE in 2021. However, she turned things around and returned to the company a couple of years later and is now amid one of the best runs of her career.
Green recently received major praise from Cody Rhodes, who appreciated the female star for giving her best in whatever she does:
"If you come to WWE, there's a girl named Chelsea Green. She just won the first-ever Women's U.S. Title. She is somebody who everything you ever give her, she makes the most of it. And it seems like the generation that's coming, I could be totally wrong, this could just be old man speak, doesn't seem like they have that mindset. But I always went into it thinking the biggest I could possibly be," he said.
Triple H and Co. also recognized Green's recent work. Last month, she was crowned the inaugural Women's United States Champion. However, she has yet to defend the title in nearly a month.
