WWE is reportedly planning on introducing a major new title on RAW. The promotion is currently on the road to Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 this Saturday in Vancouver, Canada.

According to a new report from PW Insider, the promotion is planning on introducing the Women's Intercontinental Championship on WWE RAW. The report did not specify when the title would be introduced but noted that it would likely not be until the inaugural Women's United States Champion has been crowned.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis introduced the Women's United States Championship earlier this month. There is currently a tournament underway on the blue brand to determine the first champion. The final will take place at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14.

Jade Cargill was supposed to compete in the tournament but she was brutally attacked this past Friday night on SmackDown. Cargill will be replaced by a mystery star on the upcoming show on Friday in the Triple Threat Qualifier Match against Piper Niven and Michin.

Bill Apter on WWE introducing new women's title

Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter recently shared his thoughts on the promotion introducing the Women's United States Championship on SmackDown.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk show, Apter discussed what the introduction of the title meant for the women's division. The veteran stated that he had been lobbying for the company to introduce a championship on these lines for years, and it gives more talent a chance to shine on the main roster.

"The women are finally getting something that I have been lobbying for ages. Their own United States Championship. Since I was a kid watching wrestling, it's always been the guys. It's been Bobo Brazil. It's been the Original Shiek. The women never had the United States Championship unless it was the indies. They did not announce if it was going to be a tournament or how it was going to be handled," Apter said. [From 0:40 onwards]
