WWE may have seemingly spoiled the outcome of a major match at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024
WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 is now less than a week away. The recent episode of RAW added further developments to the matches announced for the event. One of the marquee matches for this premium live event will feature Gunther defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest.
Over the past few weeks, The Archer of Infamy has managed to shake the confidence of the Imperium leader. This continued on the most recent episode of RAW, further hinting at Priest’s psychological advantage.
However, amid these developments, WWE may have inadvertently spoiled the outcome of this highly anticipated title match.
Damian Priest destroying Gunther in go-home episode of RAW is a major indication of him losing
Over the past few years, the Stamford-based promotion has established a pattern. If a star dominates its opponent during the go-home episode before a premium live event, they are often likely to lose the match at the PLE.
During the recent edition of the red brand, Gunther and Damian Priest engaged in yet another heated segment, which ended with The Archer of Infamy putting The Ring General through the announcer’s table at ringside. So, with Damian dominating Gunther on the final RAW before Survivor Series, this trend seemingly hints at Priest losing his title match against Gunther.
That said, this pattern is not always a definitive indicator. While it has been followed in many PLE matches, there are exceptions. This leaves room for speculation about Priest’s chances of dethroning Gunther.
A notable example of WWE breaking this trend was the Gunther vs. Cody Rhodes match at Crown Jewel 2024. Here, The American Nightmare secured the win at PLE despite getting momentum in the go-home show.
WWE has dropped another hint of Damian Priest losing at Survivor Series
In addition to the above hint, the Stamford-based promotion has also teased the possibility of Damian Priest losing due to interference from The Judgment Day.
During a backstage segment on WWE RAW, Finn Bálor remarked that Priest is solely focused on winning back the World title, and Finn does not love this. This suggests that interference from Bálor could be a realistic possibility at Survivor Series.
It’s plausible that just as Priest is on the verge of winning, Bálor might cost him the match at the very last moment.
A major future feud for Gunther is already teased by WWE
Another indication that Damian Priest might lose the World Heavyweight Championship match at WarGames, despite his current momentum, is the tease of Gunther’s future feud. WWE has been hinting at growing tension between Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser, with their relationship appearing increasingly strained.
This suggests that The Ring General is unlikely to lose the title to Priest at Survivor Series, as a potential betrayal by Kaiser could lead to a future World title feud.
Ludwig turning on Gunther and challenging him for the World Heavyweight Championship seems like a plausible direction for the Imperium storyline. So with this, Gunther winning at the Survivor Series seems highly likely to happen.
