Manchester United beat Arsenal 5-3 on penalties in the third round of the FA Cup at the Emirates on Sunday, January 12. Ruben Amorim's side overcame going down to ten men to best the Gunners after 120 minutes of intense football.

The Red Devils opened the scoring in the 52nd minute after Alejandro Garnacho set up club captain Bruno Fernandes. The visitors went down to 10 men after Diogo Dalot was sent off for a second yellow card in the 61st minute. The Gunners drew level in the 63rd minute through Gabriel Maghales. However, captain Martin Odegaard missed a 70th minute spot-kick.

Ruben Amorim's side held on to the 1-1 scoreline until the end of extra time to ensure the match went to penalties. The Red Devils converted all five of their spot-kicks, while Kai Havertz missed from the spot to hand the visitors the win.
