Fans of Barcelona have lauded Pedri following their 5-2 Supercopa de Espana final win over Real Madrid on Sunday, (January 12). Pedri was brilliant and dominated most Madrid players in the midfield.
Five minutes into the game, Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for Madrid after receiving a pass from Vinicius Junior. In the 22nd minute, Lamine Yamal's strike was unstoppable as he equalized for Barca following a pass from Robert Lewandowski.
In the 33rd minute, Eduardo Camavinga fouled Gavi in the box and after the VAR's intervention, La Blaugrana were awarded a penalty. Lewandowski converted the spot-kick in the 36th minute, giving Barca a 2-1 lead.
Three minutes later (39β), Raphinha scored an outstanding header following a cross from Jules Kounde. In added time of the first half (45+10β), Alejandro Balde made it 4-1 after being set up by Raphinha.
In the 48th minute, Raphinha placed his shot into the back of the net, following a pass from Marc Casado. In the 56th minute, Barca's goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent off after he fouled Mbappe on the edge of the penalty box.
Thus, Madrid were awarded a free-kick. Rodrygo converted the free-kick in the 60th minute, and this increased the tempo of the game. However, Despite Real Madrid's push to reduce the deficit, the final ended 5-2 in favor of Barcelona.
In his stint on the pitch, Pedri had a passing accuracy of 89% (50/56). He won eight out of 13 ground duels contested and provided two key passes (via Sofascore).

Raphinha was arguably La Blaugrana's best player on the pitch during the game. The Brazilian scored a brace that helped his team secure their first trophy of the year (2025).

Raphinha's attacking intuition could be key for Barcelona when they take on Real Betis in the Copa del Rey in their next game on Wednesday, (January 15). They will return to action in the La Liga against Getafe on Saturday, (January 18).
