Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Bukayo Saka deserves a lot more credit for his performances with the Gunners. The English forward has been indispensable for Mikel Arteta's team in recent seasons.

Saka registered 20 goals and 14 assists from 47 games across competitions last season as the north London side came to within inches of winning the Premier League. They fell short by two points as Manchester City lifted the title. The 23-year-old has been at it again this campaign, registering six goals and nine assists from 17 games across competitions.

On the Kelly and Wright Show, Wright was full of praise for Saka.

“Up front, Saka, as I say, Savinho at Man City, if Saka went the games playing like that. It’s been 15 games with nothing for Savinho. If Saka goes 25 minutes for Arsenal it’s a massive story. He does not get the credit for what he does, he’s incredible for Arsenal,” said Wright.

Bukayo Saka remains one of Mikel Arteta's most important players at the moment. While the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli have struggled for consistency, the Englishman has shown no signs of slowing down.

Indeed Saka is averaging 3.4 shots per game in the Premier League this season and has been fouled 2.3 times per 90 minutes. The player has registered 1.8 dribbles and 2.9 key passes per game in the league this campaign. His contract at the Emirates runs until 2027.

Arsenal have picked up pace of late after a brief slump before the international break. Mikel Arteta's team were without a win in the Premier League for four games and there were concerns that the league was slipping away from them.

However, the Gunners have recovered of late and are firing on all cylinders again. Arteta's men have already scored 21 goals from 12 games in the league this season and are fourth in the table. They are nine points behind leaders Liverpool.

The north London side have also been quite impressive in the Champions League this campaign. Arsenal have three wins and one draw in five games in Europe so far, scoring eight goals and conceding just two.

The Gunners picked up a 5-1 win over Sporting on Tuesday (November 26) in the Champions League. Bukayo Saka, interestingly, scored from the spot. Gabriel Magalhaes, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz also got on the scoresheet. The German is the club's top scorer this season with eight goals from 19 games.
