Liverpool fans on X are fearing the worst after Arne Slot included Darwin Nunez in the team's starting XI to face Leicester City. The two sides are set to face each other in the Premier League at Anfield later tonight (Thursday, December 26).
Alisson Becker starts in goal for Liverpool. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, and Andy Robertson make up the defense. The midfield comprises Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Curtis Jones. Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Nunez start up front to complete the starting XI.
Luis Diaz netted a brilliant brace during the Reds' 6-3 win against Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend. Despite this, Slot has opted to drop the Colombian winger for Nunez. The latter has struggled this season, garnering four goals and three assists in 22 appearances across all competitions.
One Liverpool fan reacted by posting:
"1130 days left. FFS MAN HES GONNA COST US IN THIS MUST WIN GAME"

"Why is nunez starting ffs"

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has backed the Reds to dismantle Leicester City in their upcoming Premier League fixture at Anfield.
The Reds are comfortably perched at the top of the league standings with 39 points from 16 games, four points above second-placed Chelsea, with two games in hand. Meanwhile, Leicester are in 18th place with 14 points and will be desperate to exit the relegation battle.
Arne Slot and Co. will be firm favorites to seal all three points. They are unbeaten in their last 12 league home games against the Foxes, winning 10, and drawing two.
Lawrenson wrote (via Paddy Power News):
"This could get ugly for Leicester. I just can’t see how they can do anything against Liverpool with the way the Reds are playing at the moment. I’ll go for a big home win but that’s probably still being kind to Leicester. They’re so porous at the back."
Lawrenson's Prediction: 3-0
