Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has asked new coach Ruben Amorim to implement a change in the mindset of the players after their draw against Ipswich Town. The Red Devils stretched their unbeaten run to five games after their 1-1 Premier League draw against the newly promoted side at Portman Road on Sunday, November 24.

Portuguese coach Amorim took charge of his first game with Manchester United, having been drafted in as the substantive replacement for Erik ten Hag this month. The former Sporting CP coach assumed office during the international break, less than two weeks before his first game.

Manchester United won three and drew one of their last four games before Amorim's first under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. However, they failed to find a way past an impressive Ipswich Town side managed by former managerial target Kieran McKenna. Teddy Sheringham was frustrated by the body language of the players, pointing out to Amorim that some of them were satisfied with the draw.

The former striker said (via @centredevils):

“I think he’s [Ruben Amorim] got to get into their [players] minds about what it takes to play for #mufc. Even when you go away to places like Ipswich, you’re expected to show the desire to try and win the game right until the last minute, even if it’s not going to go your way. I think there were people there happy to get a draw," he said (via centredevils).

Manchester United got off to a fast start at Portman Road but were soon left holding on as their opponents threatened them. Amorim would have been mildly pleased to see his side avoid defeat in the game, having seen their performance for the most part.

The Red Devils remain in 12th place in the league standings, having picked up 16 points from their opening 12 games this season. Amorim faces a struggle to get his side back on track and challenge for the top four this season.

Ipswich hold Manchester United to draw in Ruben Amorim's first game in charge

Ipswich Town continued to punch above their weight in the Premier League with a deserved point in their 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Portman Road. The draw against the Red Devils came in Ruben Amorim's first match as head coach of Manchester United.

Fresh from defeating Tottenham Hotspur before the international break, Ipswich found themselves behind after just 81 seconds in front of their fans. Marcus Rashford scored his second league goal of the campaign after excellent work from right-wing-back Amad Diallo.

The Tractor Boys recovered from the early blow and began dominating proceedings, with United goalkeeper Andre Onana denying Liam Delap from point-blank range. The home side eventually found their leveler two minutes before the break. Former Chelsea man Omari Hutchinson curled home a beauty, aided by a slight deflection, from the edge of the box. Neither side managed to find the net in the second half, and they settled for a point apiece.
