With the new year approaching, it seems that the wait for Matt Reeves The Batman 2, originally titled The Batman: Part Two, is still just as long as it was some time ago. It was announced earlier today that the movie is going to be delayed to October 2027, a full year after its previous release date. Interestingly, the movie was delayed once before to 2026 after having originally been planned for 2025.

Now, there will be over five years between the acclaimed Robert Pattinson-starrer that was universally loved and revered and its sequel. The Batman 2 will also serve as a sequel to Max's latest series The Penguin, which also received significant acclaim all around.

This delay became one of the most talked-about topics on social media platforms like X as soon as the news broke out. Now, fans are sharing their opinions, most of them hilarious, about the delay faced by The Batman 2.

X user @Stuntman_Mik3 brought forth a very real concern that was also discussed by many other fans in a tweet, saying:

"If The Batman immediately led to The Penguin and The Penguin immediately leads into The Batman 2 (Matts words). How are they going to explain Pattinson aging from Early 30s to 40 in the span of a few weeks."

Other fans also put forward their opinion on the platform.

"I’ll have a wife and kids by the time #TheBatman2 comes out 💔"- another user said.
"Matt Reeves on why he decided to delay Batman 2. “I want to make him green and orange, f*ck you.”"- another user joked.
"Matt Reeves better be cooking up the greatest movie of ALL TIME if we gotta wait almost 6 years for THE BATMAN PART 2"- another user added.
"Beyond The Spider-Verse and The Batman part 2 fighting to see who can get delayed the longest"- another user added.

The real reason for the delay is that the script of The Batman 2 has not yet been completed, as per James Gunn.

The Batman 2's delay may be a good thing

While it comes to most fans as a tad bit frustrating, especially since this is the second delay that the anticipated sequel is facing, just like the final part of Spider-Verse, this time investment in creating a good script may actually work in favor of the Matt Reeves movie.

Over the past few years, there have been almost too many half-cooked superhero movies, which have failed to impress critically and commercially. As Reeves is building on a highly acclaimed universe that has not compromised on quality yet, it is perhaps best to give the requisite time to the movie.

So, The Batman 2 coming later than expected may mean that we will get to witness a better movie than if it is rushed. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson has also signed on to Christopher Nolan's ambitious project, Odyssey, which would perhaps also cause some scheduling conflict with the shoot.

More details about the movie are expected to arrive soon.
