The accident occurred when he fell from a moving vehicle around 10:45 pm in the 1900 block of Canyon Road in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, last Thursday. Hudson Joseph Meek was rushed to the UAB Hospital in Birmingham where he was declared dead at 7:59 pm on Saturday.

On December 23, 2024, the local news site al.com reported that Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates confirmed Husdon suffered severe blunt-force trauma. The details of the incident remain under investigation by local authorities.

The news was made public through his Instagram account on the same day. A picture of Hudson Joseph Meek was shared with the following caption:

"Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met."

According to the Obituary made public by Searcy Funeral Home, Hudson Joseph Meek's life will be celebrated on December 28, 2024, at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama at 11:30 am CST.

In his memory, a scholarship has been established at Vestavia Hills High School which will be awarded annually to one student. Hudson is survived by his parents, Derek and Lani Meek, his older brother Tucker, and a large extended family.
