Tay-K (born Taymor Travon McIntyre) is reported to face capital trial for a 2017 murder case on February 10, 2025. According to a report by XXL, the rapper will face the murder trial for the fatal shooting of Mark Anthony Saldivar, who was killed at a Chic-fil-A on April 23, 2017.
At present, the rapper is already serving a 55-year sentence for his role in an aggravated robbery and murder of a man in Mansfield in 2016. He was just 19 years old when he was found guilty and locked up in prison.
According to a report by KSAT.com, a jury of 200 people is expected to be present on February 7, 2025, for the rapper's trial. If found guilty, the rapper would be sentenced to life without parole. In February 2024, he was offered a plea deal but the rapper decided to reject it and go forward with the trial.
According to a report by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office, Tay-K was sentenced to 55 years in prison and a $21,000 fine on July 23, 2019, for his involvement in a robbery and murder in 2016. The Tarrant County jury sentenced the rapper to 30 years in prison for one count of aggravated robbery and 13 years each for two other counts of aggravated robbery.
According to Sam Jordan, a spokeswoman for the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Tay-K was involved in a robbery that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man in 2016. He was part of seven defendants accused of being connected to the incident.
According to KTVT, Tay-K and the others planned to steal money and drugs from the victim's home in Mansfield. The victim was identified as Ethan Walker by the medical examiner. However, he reportedly didn't have money or drugs and was shot while his hands were up in the air, Walker's girlfriend testified.
Tay-K's attorneys argued that the rapper wasn't the one to pull the trigger, but prosecutors claimed that he was aware of the plan to rob Ethan Walker's home. According to them, the idea to rob Ethan Walker's house came from a 15-year-old girl. Her friend contacted Tay-K because they believed that the rapper would provide the guns needed to pull it off.
Prior to his sentencing, the rapper infamously cut off his GPS monitor in 2017 while on house arrest and ran away. At that time, he released his debut single called The Race. It was released independently on SoundCloud and peaked at number 44 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also peaked at number 17 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The music video for the song shows the rapper posing in front of a wanted poster of himself.
The rapper also received support from big names like Lil Bibby and Travis Scott. While Travis Scott tweeted the song's lyrics, Lil Bibby demanded the rapper's freedom on X.
Shortly after, he was captured by U.S. Marshalls in Elizabeth City, N.J. and the lyrics of The Race were used against him in court.
