As the world continues to mourn Liam Payne's tragic death, many celebrities have come forward with statements and tributes. On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, Liam Payne died from the injuries he suffered after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
According to the Associated Press, Payne fell from the balcony of his room at the CasaSur Hotel in Palermo. Alberto Crescenti, the director of the Buenos Aires Emergency Medical Service (SAME), told a local outlet that his fall resulted in "very serious injuries" that were "incompatible with life." Medics on the scene reportedly declared him dead on the spot.
Several celebrities have since spoken out about Payne's death, including Charlie Puth, Paris Hilton, Zedd, and Dan Wootton. On Thursday, singer Halsey took to her Tumblr to write:
"I loved one direction with an all-consuming force when i was younger. it hurts deeply to mourn someone you were a massive fan of as teenager, and became a peer of as an adult."
She continued:
"i know people change and grief is unsure or complicated when it’s attached to a fond memory or the feeling a person gave you and not tangibly the person themself. i can see many of you on here are struggling with that right now and i understand."
Halsey also wrote about the time she purchased a home previously owned by Payne. Using a metaphor to describe the personal ghosts that haunt us, she added,
"They live in parts of us that are harder to reach, and they go wherever we do."
Payne's last song, Teardrops, was released in March 2024.

In a joint statement shared on the band's official account, his former bandmates explained they were "devastated" by the news, adding:
"In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly."
Malik, Tomlinson, and Styles shared individual posts dedicated to the singer, mourning his loss.
Camila Cabello
The Havana hitmaker took to her IG stories to thank Liam Payne for all the "joy" he brought her and her friends. She added that he made an "impression" and that it was a "tragedy to have him gone way too soon."
Chris Brown
The R&B artist took to his Instagram stories to share a clip of Payne singing his 2019 song, Under the Influence from Indigo.
"Love you brother. Glad I (had the) pleasure of hanging with you several times and you were always humble and joyful person (heart emoji). Rest up my BRO."

As per a July 2023 article by Hollywood Life, Wesely and his girlfriend, Natalie Kuckenburg, were spotted on the same yacht with Liam Payne and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in St. Tropez. The couples were reportedly on vacation together. The Vampire Diaries star posed a photo with Liam Payne on his Instagram story to express his grief over the artist's demise.

DJ and record producer Steve Aoki, who collaborated with 1D member Louis Tomlinson for the track Just Hold On (2016), shared a touching message on X. Expressing his disbelief, he stated that Liam was "a true legend and a kinder soul with a heart of gold."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 1D's former hairdresser Lou Teasdale and guitarist Dan Richards shared messages on social media dedicated to Payne. In light of the news, Oasis member Liam Gallagher tweeted, "Life is precious kids and you only get to do it ONCE go easy."
Quavo, Max George (from The Wanted), and Olly Murs expressed their disbelief at the news. The X Factor, the reality show that sparked the formation of One Direction, released a statement on X praising Liam Payne and offering condolences to his family.

Liam Payne, along with Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, and Zayn Malik, formed One Direction in 2010, becoming one of the best-selling bands in the world. Following Malik's exit in 2015, the group went on an indefinite hiatus to focus on their solo career. Payne debuted his single, Strip That Down, in 2019, which peaked at No. 3 on the UK singles charts.
Liam Payne is survived by his son, parents, and sisters.
