Hip-hop artist Drake recently responded to Twitch streamer Imane "Pokimane," who expressed her displeasure with him signing with Stake.com, an online gambling website. As per a video published by X user @FearedBuck on November 23, Pokimane said during a stream:
“When I heard Drake was involved with Stake, my heart broke, and we'll be honest. Because I've been a little Drake fan girl, you know, the Canadian blood running through my veins. And I still love his music, but now I don't love him as much as a person.”
She continued:
“Drake is insane. So you have a problem with that. Showing your true colors. I hate Drake. As a Canadian, we're disowning you..”
The rapper reportedly commented on Kick streamer Louis "LosPollosTV's" chat the same day, after discovering Pokimane's objection. Supposedly referencing a line from Euphoria, Kendrick Lamar's diss song about the rapper, the latter wrote:
"I watched the clip what's she mad about? what is it the braids???!?"
Meanwhile, once Pokimane’s comment and the singer’s reply went viral, people took to X and the comment section of @FearedBuck to react to the same. Many praised the rapper's reply and claimed he was “playing with Kendrick at this point.”
“Drake really playing with Kendrick at this point. Hes having fun with it,” wrote one X user.
Others shared a similar sentiment and supported the singer. One called him “unbothered,” while another called Pokimane “annoying.”
“He’s so unbothered,” said another one.
“Did this btch really say “as a canadian we disowning you” whose we”, asked another user.
“She’s so f*cking annoying my god,” claimed another user.
On the other hand, some netizens criticized the rapper and called him a “loser.” Some supported Pokimane and claimed that "she didn’t mention his hair.”
“Drake is a loser,” said one user.
““Is it the braids” she didn’t mention his hair once bro,” said another user.
“Drake is such a dumb b*tch,” said another X user.
The Canadian rapper reportedly cited the lyrics from Euphoria in reaction to the streamer Pokimane's remarks. This happened after the latter voiced her worries about the 6 God rapper's recent sponsorship with betting company Stake in a new video on Saturday, November 23.
Pokimane has been vocal about exposing streamer audiences to gambling content. She has also been a strong opponent of unlicensed gambling sites, a stance that has previously caused her to clash with other streamers such as xQc.
This time, while criticizing the Canadian rapper, she stated that she was sad to learn that the artist was joining with Stake. She further claimed that she hated the singer and that because he is Canadian, they are "disowning him" for the same.
Following this, the rapper responded to Pokimane's statement by seemingly using lyrics from Kendrick's Euphoria in a comment on another streamer's video. In his diss song Euphoria, Lamar sang:
“Cutthroat business, you got sh*t twisted / What is it? The braids?”
Kendrick Lamar joined Future and Metro Boomin's joint studio album We Don't Trust You on March 22, 2024, and released the single Like That. This was in response to the Canadian rapper and J. Cole's song First Person Shooter.
The Hotline Bling rapper then responded with Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle, posted on his social media accounts. After that, as a response, Lamar released Euphoria which jump-started the rap battle.
As of this writing, Lamar hasn't said anything about the Canadian rapper's reply to Pokimane's statements.
