With the latest episode of Only Murders in the Building season 4, the show established that the mystery of Sazz's (played by Jane Lynch) murder is far from over. The latest episode, which premiered on October 15, 2024, established that a lot of things that the trio (Mabel, Charles, and Oliver) found out were misleading.

With only two episodes to go, we are pretty close to the resolution of the mystery, yet we are as far away as we could be. The ending of the eighth episode established that Sazz's murder was not related to that of Dudenoff, which, in a way, deepens the mystery. The upcoming episode, which is also the penultimate one of the season, will delve into this crucial clue that the eighth episode left behind.

Let us dive into what you can expect from Only Murders in the Building season 4 episode 9.

What to expect from Only Murders in the Building season 4 episode 9?

The events of the eighth episode of Only Murders in the Building season 4 were enough to establish that the path our three investigators were on was the wrong one as Dudenoff and Sazz's deaths weren't connected. In fact, Dudenoff wasn't even murdered. This made it certain that the murderer was someone behind only Sazz, or Charles, Mabel, and Oliver.

The ninth episode will explore the new lead that the eighth episode's ending revealed. The ending of episode 8 hinted that Glen could be behind the murder of Sazz, but it is unlikely that the show will resolve the mystery with such ease. Glen Stubbins (Paul Rudd) may still be at the hospital, but the ending also reveals that he is gaining consciousness.

With another cinematic reference, the next episode is also titled Escape From Planet Klongo. The synopsis for the episode reads:

"Seeking a critical clue, Charles, Oliver and Mabel must infiltrate a film set to get the real background on why Sazz was killed."

Apart from Stubbins, this episode will also focus on the trio trying to uncover the real reason for Sazz's death. It seems that the three infiltrating a film set will be enough to bring in a lot of laughs, besides adding to the story.

A brief recap of Only Murders in the Building season 4 episode 8

The eighth episode of Only Murders in the Building season 4 focused prominently on the mystery around Dudenoff. After it seemed in the seventh episode that the West Tower residents were behind the murders, this episode depicted their story and their bond with Dudenoff.

With the arrival of the mysterious Helga, about whom the other residents lied earlier, it was finally revealed that Dudenoff was not murdered. Instead, he killed himself after finding out that he had a terminal illness. He wanted the residents to keep subletting his apartments in the West Tower with the pretense that he was still alive and living in Portugal.

This meant that Dudenoff's death wasn't related to that of Sazz. However, as Sazz had contacted Helga over the ham radio, Helga could give a crucial clue about who could be behind Sazz's murder.

The episode revealed that Sazz had a protege who was harassing her. This was none other than Glen Stubbins (Paul Rudd), who was in the hospital from the failed assassination attempt on Oliver.

Only Murders in the Building season 4 episode 9 will premiere on October 22, 2024.
