The year 2025 will see the official retirement of WWE legend John Cena. Meanwhile, some female legends could also hang up their wrestling boots. While some of them have competed in recent years, one star has been away from the ring for a long time.

This article will discuss four female stars who could officially retire in 2025.

#1 WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus

Trish Stratus is one of the biggest female legends in WWE, who started her career in 2000. Besides competing in several notable matches, Stratus appeared in a romantic storyline with Vince McMahon.

The Canadian star's last appearance on WWE TV was at Money in the Bank 2024, where she was the special host. During the show, Stratus had a heated interaction with Tiffany Stratton following the latter's Money in the Bank win. This fueled rumors of her in-ring return.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Stratus teased her in-ring return for the final time. Before WrestleMania XL, she said Cody Rhodes certainly wasn’t the only one with an unfinished story. The Hall of Famer hinted that she could return for one last match if fans wanted it.

“Cody isn’t the only one with an unfinished story,” said Stratus. “I loved being back as a special guest in Toronto at Money in the Bank. And who knows, if I can still go, I’ll still keep going. I’ll never half-a** it. If fans are interested and it can influence another generation, then we’ll see." [H/T: Fightful]

Trish Stratus might return at Royal Rumble 2025 to set up a potential match at WrestleMania 41.

#2 Mickie James

Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James might also officially retire in 2025. Mickie’s last appearance on the Stamford-based promotion's programming was in January 2022, when she entered the Royal Rumble as Impact Knockouts World Champion. She stayed in the match for around 12 minutes before being eliminated by Lita.

In April earlier this year, the 44-year-old said she hadn’t retired yet. Two days ago, Mickie teased her return to the squared circle when a fan on X (formerly Twitter) requested her to have one more match.

“I think we might make it happen,” she wrote.

Mickie James might also compete in the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble match. Otherwise, she could also have a farewell bout in TNA Wrestling.

#3 Hall of Famer Lita

The 2014 Hall of Famer can officially announce her in-ring retirement next year. Being one of the most celebrated wrestlers in the Stamford-based promotion, Lita has featured in sensational storylines with former WWE Superstars Edge (Adam Copeland), Kane, and Matt Hardy.

She was also part of the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match. After the Rumble, Lita unsuccessfully challenged Becky Lynch for the Women’s Championship at Elimination Chamber.

The 49-year-old superstar last competed inside the squared circle at WrestleMania 39, where she, along with Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus, defeated Damage CTRL. In June 2024, The Extreme Diva said she could consider returning to the ring if a compelling plan was pitched to her. Hence, if the stars align, she could have her final match at The Grandest Stage of Them All next year.

#4 AJ Lee

AJ Lee is highly expected to return to the Stamford-based promotion and get in the ring for a final time. The last time she competed inside the squared circle was in 2015.

AJ Lee was rumored to make a comeback earlier this year when Drew McIntyre referenced her during his rivalry with CM Punk. The Straight Edge Superstar recently spoke on his wife's return, mentioning that her comeback could be bigger than his at Survivor Series: WarGames last year.

The 37-year-old former WWE star could make her return at Royal Rumble next year and retire from wrestling after competing at WrestleMania 41. Let's wait and watch whether AJ Lee comes back to the Stamford-based promotion.
