In the year 2000, the WWE roster had 18 female on-screen talents, including Linda McMahon and ring announcer Lilian Garcia. Almost 25 years later, only two of these ladies currently work for the Stamford-based company, Garcia and Molly Holly, who has transitioned into a producer.
A few of the talents have sadly passed away over the course of the two and a half decades, including Chyna, Luna Vachon, and Mae Young. Although some occasionally return to the squared circle, all other former superstars have stepped away from in-ring competition. Since almost a quarter century has passed since they were on WWE's roster in 2000, some of these ladies' appearances have changed significantly.
Check out five female stars from the 2000 roster and how they look almost 25 years later below:
After a brief run as a valet in WCW for her then-husband Steve McMichael, Debra joined WWE in 1998. The 64-year-old who had a four-year run in the Stamford-based company stepped away from wrestling following her departure in 2002.
In the year 2000, Debra married Stone Cold Steve Austin in real life. Meanwhile, she became the Lieutenant Commissioner, acting as an assistant to Commissioner Mick Foley on screen. Nevertheless, the former Women's Champion did not compete inside the squared circle.
Since her departure from the promotion, Debra never returned. However, Austin's ex-wife remains in great shape as evidenced by her recent photos posted on her X (fka Twitter) account.
Like Debra, Terri Runnels also worked for WCW before joining the Stamford-based company. In 1996, the 58-year-old debuted in WWE to manage her then-husband Dustin Rhodes (fka Goldust). The former Hardcore Champion's run lasted eight years before she left in 2004.
In 2000, Runnels served as a manager for Edge and Christian before they turned on her. The former backstage interviewer also had an on-screen romance with Perry Saturn. Meanwhile, she had a heated feud with The Kat. While she defeated her rival in a Catfight at WrestleMania, she lost to her in a Stink Face match at SummerSlam.
While Runnels has not appeared in the Stamford-based company since 2018, when she made a one-off return on RAW, she regularly does interviews. Last November, a fan posted a recent photo with the former superstar on Instagram (check slide 6).
In March 2000, Trish Stratus made her debut at the Stamford-based promotion. The Diva of the Decade became the manager of the tag team T&A (Test and Albert). Nearly three months after her first appearance on TV, the 49-year-old competed in her first match as she teamed up with her T&A partners to defeat The Hardy Boyz and Lita.
Over the next six years, Stratus became arguably the greatest female superstar in the company's history, winning the Women's Championship seven times. Although she retired in 2006, the Hall of Famer has returned several times over the past 18 years. She last competed in September 2023 when she lost to Becky Lynch in a Steel Cage Match at Payback.
While younger fans might be familiar with how Stratus looks today, they might not be so much so with how she looked in her debut year. While the wrestling legend looked impressive in 2000, she might be in even better shape today, almost 25 years later.
Jacqueline was one of the most dominant female superstars in the company's history. In February 2000, she won her second Women's Championship. However, she dropped the belt to Stephanie McMahon the following month. The Texan star tried to recapture the title throughout the rest of the year but failed.
The 60-year-old's run in the Stamford-based company lasted six years before she left in 2004. Fourteen years after her departure, the former Women's Champion participated in the 2018 Women's Royal Rumble.
Jacqueline recently signed a Legends contract. She appeared alongside other legends at SummerSlam and Bad Blood this year.
After making her on-screen debut in late 1999, Stephanie McMahon had an eventful year in 2000. She held the Women's Championship for 143 days. The Billion Dollar Princess was also involved in an onscreen love triangle storyline with Triple H and Kurt Angle.
The former Chairwoman and Co-CEO left the Stamford-based company in January 2023. However, she made a few appearances in 2024, attending multiple premium live events and the Hall of Fame ceremony. The Billion Dollar Princess also kicked off Night Two of WrestleMania 40.
Although Triple H has clarified that his wife does not hold any official position in the company at the time, McMahon is one of a few female legends who may appear on TV next year. She recently confirmed that she would be at WrestleMania 41.
