The new year is approaching, and the WWE Universe is on the fence about it. Why? Well, the upside is, that they will get John Cena for a full year. The downside? It will be his last. Yes, Cena is set to embark on his retirement tour in 2025, and WWE might be preparing to make it an unforgettable event, both for him and the fans.
As per multiple sources, WWE is reportedly considering having John Cena contend for a world title. There are various routes to secure a title shot, and it is a known fact that one of those routes would be winning the Royal Rumble Match. While this is no simple feat, there are indications that The Leader of the Cenation could achieve this in 2025. Interestingly, Cena himself hinted at this possibility by posting a photo of Jim Duggan on Instagram.
John Cena is notorious for being an incredibly cryptic poster on Instagram. But, it's always fun to read into what he shares. His latest social media update featured a photo of Hacksaw Jim Duggan, who won the first-ever Royal Rumble Match in 1988. With that in mind, Cena's post could suggest that he hopes to mirror Duggan's achievement and be the last one standing in the ring at the 2025 edition of the PLE.
Of course, when all is said and done, this is nothing more than speculation. There is no way to tell if there will be a third Rumble win for Cena in the future. But one thing is for sure, he will be there.
Even though his hint may just be speculation, it appears that John Cena is the top contender for winning the 2025 Royal Rumble. The betting agencies have already pegged him as the most likely to win, which speaks volumes. Especially considering it is still uncertain whether he will even participate in the match.
BetOnline states that Cena is currently the top choice to win the Royal Rumble Match. While he is at the top of the ladder with odds of 15/4, he is followed by CM Punk with 4/1, The Rock with 6/1, and Roman Reigns with 7/1. Just goes to show how significant his retirement tour is, especially considering the PLE is still two whole months away.
That being said, it will be interesting to see if Cena does the bookies a solid and is the last of 30 men standing at the Lucas Oil Stadium. But, more than that, should he win, it will be interesting to see which world title he chooses to compete for at WrestleMania 41.
