33-year-old WWE star must win the Women's United States Championship for major reason, says Sam Roberts
WWE is set to crown the first-ever Women's United States Champion at Saturday Night's Main Event. WWE analyst Sam Roberts suggested a 33-year-old superstar should win the title.
Chelsea Green has been one of the most entertaining characters in the Stamford-based company since her return last year. The former Women's Tag Team Champion is currently fighting to become the inaugural Women's United States Champion. Last Friday on SmackDown, the Canadian star defeated Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport to qualify for the second round of the Women's United States Championship tournament.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts expressed his desire to see Green win the United States Championship in Long Island. He claimed the company must not waste the opportunity to pull the trigger on her where fans would be significantly loud:
"We know we're going to Saturday Night's Main Event with the finals of the finals of the Women's United States Championship Tournament. You have the potential of going all the way out to Long Island in the Nassau Coliseum where if you give fans what they want, they are loud. And you have this opportunity, whether she cheats or not, to have Chelsea Green win that championship in the Nassau Coliseum at Saturday Night's Main Event. It's very difficult for me to justify not executing on that moment when you've got the ability to do that," he said.
The 41-year-old pointed out that fans would want to go into the holidays having experienced the moment of Green winning the title, stating that everybody would want her to win by the time of the tournament's final:
"It's near impossible for me to say Chelsea Green should not win the Women's United States Championship. By the time you get to Saturday Night's Main Event, everybody's gonna just wanna see that moment happen. It's not about the title reign. It's not about the next several years. It's not about where you're going next. It's about on that night, people are gonna wanna go into the holidays having experienced the moment when Chelsea Green wins the United States Championship," Roberts added. [56:39 - 57:51]
Ex-WWE employee wants Bayley to win the Women's United States Championship
Former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci discussed the Women's United States Championship tournament on the Behind The Turnbuckle: The War Room podcast. He disclosed that would have Bayley win the title.
The former employee pointed out that the title win would help The Role Model's career:
"I would give it to Bayley. I think she really needs a shot in the arm. She's been in the company a long time. She's starting to grow on me a little more now. I think seeing Bayley carry that title could really help her out," he said.
Bayley is set to square off against Chelsea Green in the semi-finals of the Women's United States Championship tournament. It would be interesting to see which of the two WWE Superstars will emerge victorious.
