Cody Rhodes picks his dream opponent from WWE Hall of Famers list
WWE fans are eagerly anticipating a dream match between Cody Rhodes and Gunther at Crown Jewel, where the two champions will collide in a highly anticipated title showdown. In the meantime, The American Nightmare has revealed his dream opponent from the list of WWE Hall of Famers.
At the Bad Blood, the Chief Content Officer Triple H introduced a brand new Crown Jewel Championship for the PLE in Saudi Arabia on November 2, 2024. Per stipulation, Rhodes and Gunther will lock horns for the first-ever Men's Crown Jewel Title. The same is in place for the female division, which will feature Liv Morgan vs. Nia Jax for the Women's Crown Jewel Title.
Meanwhile, in the latest TikTok video from @bbcnewsround, The American Nightmare was asked which Hall of Famer, past or present, he would like to face. The 39-year-old star picked Jake "The Snake" Roberts.
Cody Rhodes acknowledged Jake Roberts' distinctive approach to performing in front of an audience and aspired to learn from the WWE Hall of Famer while also competing against him in the ring.
"Jake Roberts. He had a really unique psychology to how we do this in front of an audience. I'd like to learn in addition to fighting him at the same time," Rhodes said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]
Wrestling analyst believes Cody Rhodes' friend would turn heel in WWE for the first time under Triple H's regime
One of the major figures who played a significant role in shaping The American Nightmare's career is Randy Orton. The two were a part of The Legacy faction alongside Ted DiBiase in the early 2010s. According to the current storyline, Kevin Owens has turned heel on both Cody Rhodes and The Viper.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts claimed that Randy Orton would betray The American Nightmare, breaking the latter's heart in pursuit of the WWE Championship. The analyst contrasted this with KO, who he views as a more principled character.
"He's The Viper, he's always the same guy... If the problems that Randy has with Kevin Owens are legit or not, this whole Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes emotional rivalry is all set decoration for the inevitable turn on Cody that he does not see coming. Randy Orton is going to break Rhodes' heart on a quest to get that WWE Championship, and he's not going to have to say anything. Kevin Owens, at least, is a principled person," said Roberts.
