The year 2024 has belonged to Roxanne Perez in WWE as The Prodigy cemented herself as the face of the women's division on the black and silver brand. Recently, she was awarded a prestigious accolade by ESPN, and the champion herself reacted.
Earlier this year, Roxanne Perez turned to the dark side due to months of frustration as a performer. The Prodigy captured her second NXT Women's Championship defeating Lyra Valkyria and started her reign as a heel champion for the first time in the Stamford-based promotion.
Today, ESPN declared her the Women's Wrestler of 2024, where she tied for the top spot with AEW's Toni Storm, who also had a fantastic year of her own. Later, the WWE NXT Women's Champion reacted to the milestone and took to X (fka Twitter) to send a thankful message to the organization for bestowing her with the prestigious accolade this year.
"Thank you @espnππ€β¨π," Perez wrote.
The 23-year-old star had a fantastic year and also revealed her new boyfriend before the end of the year. The Prodigy is set to defend her title against Guilia on the first episode of NXT in 2025.
Earlier this year, the audience got to witness a new side of Roxanne Perez, which propelled her into stardom on the developmental brand. The 23-year-old WWE Superstar remained dominant for the most part and became the brand's face. The rise attracted other stars' attention including Bayley.
In an interview on Going Ringside, The Role Model was asked about her dream WrestleMania opponent. The star stated she would like to have a moment with Roxanne Perez on The Grandest Stage of Them All in Las Vegas.
"I would like to probably work with someone from NXT if I can. I would have to go with Roxanne [Perez] because she's killing it as the NXT Women's Champion. She's so smooth, and I'm selfish like I know everybody wants to work with her. I'm selfish, and I want to get her first 'Mania match. I think that would be really special, and we're really tight friends. So, I would love that," Bayley said. [From 08:25 onwards]

Perez has competed on WWE's main roster where she did cross paths with Bayley. However, the two were on different journeys and only time will tell if the match comes to fruition at The Showcase of the Immortals in Las Vegas.
We at Sportskeeda Wrestling congratulate Roxanne Rerez on her massive achievement and wish her all the best for the future.
