Damian Priest got the upper hand on Gunther this past Monday on WWE RAW in Glendale, Arizona. Priest delivered a bold statement after slamming The Ring General through the commentators table ahead of their World Heavyweight Championship match at Survivor Series: WarGames.

The Archer of Infamy has the momentum heading into Survivor Series, getting the better of Gunther in the last three weeks. He first planted seeds of doubt in The Ring General's mind by outsmarting him backstage and hitting a low blow.

This past Monday on RAW, the World Heavyweight Champion called out his challenger to begin the show. He hit a cheap shot on Priest, who fought him off and turned the tables on him. The Punishment hit the Crucifix Powerbomb on The Austrian Anomaly, leaving the champion beat and battered.

After the segment, Damian Priest delivered a message to Gunther regarding their title match on Saturday in Vancouver, Canada.

"At Survivor Series, you're gonna see a general bow to a king. El Campeon is back," Priest said.

Damian Priest called himself El Campeon during his reign as World Heavyweight Champion. He was still part of The Judgment Day at that point but lost it after Finn Balor betrayed him at SummerSlam 2024.

Paul Heyman praised Damian Priest after his promo against Gunther

On the Cheap Heat podcast with Peter Rosenberg, Damian Priest revealed that Paul Heyman praised him backstage after his promo with Gunther on RAW three weeks ago.

"I felt good, I felt comfortable. I was flowing. I just went in, and it just felt good. For instance, Heyman was talking to me after, and he was like, 'There's no distinction between the character and the person. That's you now.' That felt good. I was appreciative of his words. For me, it felt smooth, man. I think I finally know how to just be me," Priest said. [H/T: Fightful]

Priest didn't get an official rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship because he was too busy dealing with his former Judgment Day friends. He had to earn the opportunity by beating Dominik Mysterio, Seth Rollins, and Sheamus in a Fatal Four-Way match on the November 3 edition of RAW.
