Former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has reflected on The New Day's segment with The Rock a few years ago. He stated that they held their own against The Great One, which isn't very common.
The Final Boss returned to WWE on the January 25, 2016 episode of RAW. He was confronted by the WWE Tag Team Champions at the time. They reminded him that they had beaten his cousins The Usos at the Royal Rumble the previous night. They also made fun of the wrestling legend for calling himself The People's Champion even though he didn't have any gold.
During an appearance on 107.7 The Bone, Kofi Kingston spoke about The New Day's success and brought up their interaction with The Rock.
"All we’ve done, the titles we’ve won, and the crowns we’ve worn, it’s unmatched. Hosting WrestleMania, going toe-to-toe with The Rock on the mic and holding our own, not many people in the world can do that. Not many people can say they’ve done that. I could go on and on. I mean, what, 12, 13-time Tag Team Champions? Longest-reigning Tag Team Champions at one point. If I’m being honest, I don’t really care about what the fans remember about us because I already know what we are," said Kingston. [12:52-13:28]
The Great One appeared on this week's NXT after showing up on RAW. His in-ring segment was the main event of the show.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open, Oba Femi sent a warning to The Rock for stealing his TV time.
“At the moment the time was being stolen from me, I wasn’t even aware it was being stolen from me. Maybe if I knew, I would have gone up to him and been like, ‘Hey, Uncle Dwayne, what are you doing?’ I’ll let it slide this time. But the next time Uncle Dwayne comes in and steals time from me, there’s going to be problems," Femi said.
Oba Femi pined Trick Williams on the show to become the new NXT Champion. Eddy Thorpe was also involved in the bout.
