Cody Rhodes recently surpassed 250 days as the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion. He captured the title by dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 in April earlier this year.
Since then, Rhodes has defended the championship successfully against top stars such as AJ Styles, Logan Paul, Kevin Owens, and Solo Sikoa. In a recent interview with Justin Barrasso for Undisputed, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan shared his thoughts on Rhodes' title reign.
Hogan took partial credit for Rhodes’ success, noting that much of what they did in his era still resonates today. He mentioned how it was exciting to see Rhodes "Hulk up" during his matches, a move Hogan popularized to energize the crowd.
However, Hogan acknowledged the difficulty of comparing different generations of wrestling. He praised The American Nightmare for his work as the Undisputed WWE Champion, stating that Rhodes is doing a fantastic job carrying the title.
“A lot of what we did back then still works. From time to time, you see him sort of ‘Hulk up.’ That’s cool to see. But it’s so hard to compare. This is a completely different time... I slammed Andre The Giant once [at WrestleMania III], and that was it. Would one slam be enough now? I don’t know. So times have changed, but Cody’s doing a great job with the belt—and that’s not easy,” Hogan said. [H/T SESCOOPS]
Despite some criticism from a small segment of fans regarding Cody Rhodes' title reign, he remains one of the biggest draws in professional wrestling. He is undeniably the face of WWE at the moment.
However, significant changes could be on the horizon in 2025. According to a recent report from WrestleVotes via SK Wrestling's Backstage Pass, plans are in place for The American Nightmare to drop the Undisputed WWE Championship sometime next year.
Currently, Cody Rhodes is out of action after suffering a Package Piledriver from Kevin Owens during Saturday Night's Main Event.
