JBL may have been a controversial heel in WWE in 2004, but the Hall of Famer wasn't beating opponents to grab Viagra from a pole. For those unaware, the Viagra on a Pole match was a WCW creation during the promotion's dying days in the early 2000s.

During a recent edition of What Were They Thinking? on Backstage Pass, JBL was asked to share his thoughts on the infamous showdown between 'The Franchise' Shane Douglas and Billy Kidman on a card that had Booker T and Sting for the world title as the main event.

"It's one of the dumbest things. I this is beyond preposterous. When we saw this, of course, by this time WCW was gone. The ship had hit the iceberg, they were sinking. But at this point, it's like, you know what, let's not bail out any more water. Let's let more water in. I mean, this is pretty much, we know the, the battle's over, but we know it now. It's imminent because this was God awful," JBL said.

The Hall of Famer further commented on the questionable booking in WCW.

"How do you explain this to kids. How do you explain, of course, a lot of stuff. Now wait a minute, I'm fair at this now that he didn't explain a lot of stuff to kids, so that's not a fair thing to say. But I mean, how do you explain this to anybody with common sense?" [14:24 onwards]

Speaking on infamous matches, the former WWE Champion discussed backstage reaction to the disastrous Booker T versus Buff Bagwell outing.

In 2001, WCW was sold to WWE, and many of its wrestlers joined the global juggernaut.
