Jeff Jarrett founded TNA alongside his father Jerry Jarrett in 2002. Vince Russo, a former writer for the company, recently explained why Dixie Carter was hesitant to pitch creative ideas.

Carter served as TNA President between 2003 and 2016. Although she is best remembered for her days as an on-screen authority figure, the businesswoman also had an important role to play behind the scenes.

Russo spoke about regrets in the wrestling business on the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws. Discussing his TNA experience, the veteran writer recalled how Carter allegedly lost confidence after hearing Jarrett's honest feedback about her ideas:

"Bro, very, very, very early on, Double J [Jeff Jarrett] stripped Dixie of any confidence she ever had, to the point of being scared to death to speak up and give her own ideas for her own company, which explains why if she made a mistake she never wanted to own it, because of that," Russo said. "I understand why she didn't do it, but I think it really would have helped her if she would have done it." [10:37 – 11:10]

Vince Russo compares Dixie Carter and Vince McMahon

In the late 1990s, Vince Russo wrote television for WWE when RAW frequently drew its highest ratings. He worked on scripts with co-head writer Ed Ferrara before reporting directly to then-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

While McMahon often admitted he made creative mistakes, Russo cannot recall Dixie Carter accepting responsibility when something went wrong:

"Vince did all the time. Vince would say, 'I was wrong. I was wrong about that. I misjudged.' Vince never had a problem saying that. Dixie just would never, ever just say. It's okay to make mistakes, man. You have to." [8:14 – 8:35]

In the same episode, former WWE star EC3 told Russo and host Dr. Chris Featherstone about his one regret while working for Vince McMahon.
