Damian Priest will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Survivor Series. Wrestling veteran Magnum T.A. recently predicted the result of the upcoming clash.
Three months ago, The Archer of Infamy defended the World Heavyweight Championship against The Ring General at SummerSlam. However, the former Judgment Day member lost after his ex-teammate Finn Balor turned on him, costing him the fight. The 42-year-old will now have a chance to recapture the championship when he squares off with Gunther at Survivor Series.
On the Straight Talk with The Boss podcast, Magnum T.A. predicted that Priest would fail to end Gunther's title reign. He pointed out that the company would return to pushing The Ring General after the latter lost to Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel:
"I mean they got the gas on Gunther, they're not gonna back off him. He did the favor for Cody at that pay-per-view [PLE] but they got too much invested in him and he's too good," he said. [44:00 - 44:15]
On his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. speculated why the Stamford-based company booked Damian Priest against Gunther at Survivor Series.
The Hollywood star claimed the promotion wanted to re-establish The Ring General after his loss to the Undisputed WWE Champion at Crown Jewel:
"Unless they pressed pause on the Damian Priest story and that's the reason they're gonna give this another shot, which it doesn't feel like that to me, it feels like they need someone who looks like a legit contender to re-establish Gunther after that loss at Crown Jewel that he's the man," he said.
Gunther has surpassed 115 days as World Heavyweight Champion. It will be interesting to see if his title reign comes to an end this Saturday at Survivor Series.
