WWE head of creative Triple H recently shared a never-seen-before clip of CM Punk's return to the Stamford-based company after a decade. The Second City Saint parted ways with the wrestling promotion and announced his retirement in 2014.

The 46-year-old returned to professional wrestling in August 2021 after signing a multi-year deal with AEW. However, Punk's contract was terminated following a backstage controversy in 2023. Later the same year, he made a shocking return to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames in his hometown of Chicago.

WWE's CCO Triple H recently took to his Instagram account to share never-before-seen footage from CM Punk's historic return. The full video is available on the company's official YouTube channel. The Game posted a short clip of his interaction with The Best in the World after the latter sent the Chicago crowd into a frenzy at Survivor Series: WarGames last year.

"The night that froze hell, broke the internet… and changed everything. Never-before-seen footage from @cmpunk’s return at last year’s #SurvivorSeries has been revealed. Watch it now on @wwe’s @youtube," read the caption.

CM Punk reflects on making his WWE return in Chicago

CM Punk injured his tricep during the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble Match. Although he was forced out of action, the veteran performer made several television appearances, including the one at WrestleMania XL. In Philadelphia, he attacked Drew McIntyre, allowing Damian Priest to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and become the World Heavyweight Champion.

During another appearance amid his absence from in-ring action at the Countdown to WWE Backlash France, Punk claimed the Chicago crowd was the loudest. He then reflected on making his return to the wrestling promotion in front of the Chicago crowd, claiming he could not hear anything. The former world champion added it felt like he was having a stroke.

"Selfishly, I have to say that Chicago is always the loudest place, but that goes back to me being a little kid and being fortunate enough to see hockey games in the old Chicago Stadium before they blew that up and turned it into a parking lot. Allstate Arena, when I came back at Survivor Series, I couldn't hear Living Color. I couldn't hear anything. It was white noise. I thought I was having a stroke. Turns out, I wasn't. It was just a really, really loud crowd that was happy to see me," Punk said.

A year after returning to the global juggernaut, CM Punk will team up with The OG Bloodline, led by Roman Reigns, to lock horns with the Solo Sikoa-led Bloodline and Bronson Reed in a WarGames match. The bout will take place at this year's edition of Survivor Series scheduled for November 30.
