Shawn Michaels, who is currently leading WWE NXT, was once involved in a seriously controversial moment in the Stamford-based company's history. Recently, his former arch-nemesis, the legendary Bret Hart revealed the nature of his relationship with The Heartbreak Kid 27 years after the infamous 'Montreal Screwjob.'

In 1997, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels locked horns for the WWE Champion at Survivor Series Pay-Per-View in Montreal, Canada. Back then, The Hitman was leaving the Stamford-based promotion for WCW. Worried that Hart wouldn't drop the World Title to HBK, former WWE boss Vince McMahon pulled a sneaky move, orchestrating a controversial ending.

Despite the 67-year-old legend not tapping out to Shawn Michaels' Sharpshooter, Mr. McMahon instructed the referee to prematurely end the match, awarding the victory and championship to HBK.

In an interview with Justin Dhillon on an episode of the Casual Conversations with The Classic, Bret Hart was asked about his current relationship with the former WWF Intercontinental Champion. The Excellence of Execution revealed that he and Shawn Michaels have reconciled their past differences and now maintain a respectful and accepting relationship.

"We (me & Shawn) are on good terms. We're respectful and we accept each other today," Hart said. [From 09:02 to 09:12]

Bret Hart breaks silence on top WWE Superstar's remarks on RAW

A few weeks ago, fans witnessed The Hitman make his presence felt on an episode of Monday Night RAW. However, Hart's homecoming return was crashed by World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.

The Ring General left no stone unturned to insult the 67-year-old legend. He called Goldberg his favorite wrestler, taking a shot at the real-life animosity between Da Man and Bret Hart.

During the same interaction with Justin Dhillon of The Wrestling Classic, The Excellence of Execution broke his silence on WWE using his rivalry with Goldberg for a segment on RAW.

"I think Bill [Goldberg] got off light," Hart joked.

Only time will tell if Bret Hart will bury the hatchet with the former Universal Champion, just as he did with Shawn Michaels.
