Vince Russo has often been credited with epic highs in WWE and failed moments in other pro-wrestling endeavors. However, the veteran believes he is hardly responsible for bankrupting a company like TNA.
During his time with TNA in the early 2000s, Russo had often resorted to some unusual booking decisions to drive up ratings. While they were successful to some extent, he became a rather controversial figure in the eyes of fans, with even chants like 'Fire Russo' breaking out on occasions. He parted ways with the company in 2015.
Responding to claims from JBL that Russo had a role to play in the downfall of TNA, the latter stated on Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo:
"Say whatever you want about me; you are never gonna erase the numbers. You know so, so whatever company I bankrupted, whatever company I put out of business, it just makes me laugh, bro. Because he is talking about me.I don't know if I bankrupted TNA or put TNA out of business, I don't know which one he is talking about. But he is working at TNA these days, so how is that even... cause if I bankrupted them, they are out of business, right? " [9:08 onwards]
Vince Russo believes that Bron Breakker has something that other popular stars like Jey Uso and LA Knight don't have, i.e. the support of WWE officials.
Speaking on an episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, Russo stated:
"I think it's interesting what's happening here. With what we see every single week - they're not bringing that GUY. They love LA Knight because fans love LA Knight. They love signing along with Seth [Rollins]. They love doing the 'Yeet!'. But nobody in the company is making that GUY. These are all the fans picking out what they like in a niche, that's what we're seeing."
He added:
"We're not seeing that guy get that build, where fans can look at him and say 'That's the guy'. I mean the closest to that is probably Bron Breakker. And they've beat him. They've not kept him clean. They've beat him. So that's the problem, man. You've got the fans picking and choosing, but you don't have the company building anybody." [8:22 onwards]
It remains to be seen what Bron Breakker's future holds in WWE.
