Royal Rumble 2025 will emanate from the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, a venue that can hold at least 70,000 people. A new report from WrestleVotes serves as a rumor killer on a major change that's being made.

UFC will be hosting the 250th edition of Fight Night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the same day as the 2025 Royal Rumble. This is a bit surprising to some, as both the UFC and WWE are now under one umbrella, TKO Group Holdings. However, the mentality seems to be that there isn't as much of a crossover audience as one might think, which is probably why they don't seem to have an issue with both shows airing on the same night.

On WrestleVotes Radio exclusively on Backstage Pass, JoeyVotes and TC quashed rumors that WWE would start the Royal Rumble early due to the UFC show. Instead, they insisted that it would begin at 7 p.m. EST as scheduled.

There was reportedly a different plan for Roman Reigns at the 2024 Royal Rumble

There's going to be a lot of fanfare regarding what Roman Reigns will do at the 2025 Royal Rumble. For the first time since 2020, he could possibly participate in the Men's Rumble Match. The OTC won the gimmick match nine years ago and has been the runner-up on multiple occasions.

For almost the entirety of the 2020s, he has defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the Rumble. Earlier this year, Roman overcame AJ Styles, LA Knight, and Randy Orton in an epic Fatal Four-Way Match. But that was reportedly not the original plan.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the original plan was for a singles match between Roman Reigns and Randy Orton. However, the powers that be didn't want Orton getting pinned so quickly into his WWE return.

With that said, Orton still went to war with The Bloodline after WrestleMania 40 and came out on the losing end more often than he would have liked. All of that tension spiraled in and culminated with Kevin Owens turning on Cody Rhodes and then The Viper, who clearly sided with The American Nightmare on SmackDown.
