Triple H's discussions to bring back 6-time WWE Champion reportedly fell apart

The RAW on Netflix premiere is less than a day away, and the excitement levels among the WWE Universe are through the roof. Triple H has lined up a WrestleMania-caliber match card, also featuring the return of John Cena.

However, fans shouldn't get their hopes up about potentially seeing six-time WWE Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin back on television anytime soon.

The Texas Rattlesnake hasn't been seen in any wrestling capacity since his No Holds Barred match against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 in 2022.

The 60-year-old icon was slated to return during the "Bloodline Rules" match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes on Night Two of WrestleMania XL. However, the plans were scrapped due to his prior commitments.

That still hasn't changed, as Sportskeeda's own Dr. Chris Featherstone reported that Steve Austin won't be able to make it to RAW's Netflix debut on January 6, 2025. For now, the discussions between him and the Triple H-led creative fell through, but they could still resume.

Will Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestle again in WWE?

Steve Austin, at 60, is well past his prime and has stayed retired for over two decades except for his one-off match with Kevin Owens.

Speaking on the Grilling JR podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross laid out the conditions under which Stone Cold would lace up his boots again.

"He is very particular with who he works with. He has a legacy and a standard of his WrestleMania matches that he wanted to continue. I don't know. I just dont think it was meant to be. Like I said earlier, if there is a new hot heel that Steve had not worked with, who is athletic, who is safe, then I can see him working. Now he is kind of, I wont say relegated. Now it seems like he is looking at doing a cameo business at best,” he said.

Interestingly, some eagle-eyed fans caught Stone Cold Steve Austin's signature smoking skull logo flashing during the special drone show ahead of RAW's Netflix debut.

Will the Texas Rattlesnake make his presence felt in Los Angeles? Only time will tell.
