Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami agree deal to sign 21-year-old midfielder who scored against Brazil in 2026 World Cup qualifiers: Fabrizio Romano

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Lionel Messi's Inter Miami have agreed on a deal to sign Telasco Segovia from Primeira Liga outfit Casa Pia. Segovia is set to be the Herons' third transfer ahead of the 2025 season following the arrivals of Fafa Picault and Edison Azcona.

Romano posted on X:

"EXCL: Inter Miami agree deal to sign Telasco Segovia from Casa Pia, deal in place for Venezuelan midfielder to join Leo Messi’s team. Permanent move for $2.5m plus 50% sell-on clause and add-ons also as part of package. Record transfer for Casa Pia. Here we go."

Segovia made his professional debut for Venezuelan side Deportivo Lara in 2019 before joining Casa Pia on a three-year deal in September 2023. The central midfielder has impressed this season, scoring two goals in 15 appearances in the Portuguese league.

The 21-year-old has also aided Casa Pia get to seventh place in the Primeira standings with 24 points from 17 games, seven points behind fourth-placed Braga. For a reported transfer fee of $2.5 million, Segovia could prove to be a bargain for Lionel Messi's Inter Miami.

Segovia also made his debut for the Venezuela national team in January 2022, earning eight caps to date. His one goal for his nation came during their impressive 1-1 draw against Brazil during their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers clash on November 14, 2024.

Former Inter Miami attacking midfielder Matias Rojas has hailed Lionel Messi as the best player in football history, admitting he is grateful for having the chance to play alongside the Argentine ace.

Rojas joined Lionel Messi and Co. as a free agent in March 2024, quickly becoming a key player for the team. He scored nine goals and provided three assists in 30 appearances across all competitions but was not handed a new deal, leading to his departure as a free agent.

Rojas told SportsCenter (via Inter Miami News):

“There is a lot that I will save for the rest of my life, things that obviously cannot be told. But personally, I am very grateful to life for that situation that I got to play with the one who, for me, is the best in history.”

Alongside Lionel Messi, Rojas helped the Herons win the 2024 MLS Supporters' Shield trophy after they finished at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference standings with a record 74 points from 34 games.
