Where will Sonic 3 be made available? Streaming details explored

Sonic 3 is an action-adventure film directed by Jeff Fowler, with a screenplay by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington. It is the third installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series, based on the video game series published by Sega.

Jim Carrey plays the double role of Dr. Ivo Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik in the film, and exciting new additions have been made to the cast with Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog and Krysten Ritter as Director Rockwell.

The film is produced and distributed by Paramount Pictures. Both the prequels and Knuckles spin-off series are available on Paramount+. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will also be available on Paramount+. However, Paramount+ has not yet provided an official announcement for the exact streaming dates.

Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Natasha Rothwell, and several other actors are reprising their roles from the previous films. The film was released on December 20, 2024.

As mentioned above, the film will eventually be available for streaming on Paramount+, but there hasn't been any announcement about the date of when it will be released for streaming. Generally, the platform waits 50 days for a movie to go from theaters to streaming

The other two Sonic films and the Knuckles spin-off series are also available for streaming on the platform. To watch the content one needs a subscription to Paramount+. The cost of a subscription varies according to the user's location.

The cost of Paramount+ Essential after the free trial is $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year. The Paramount+ Essential package offers the user the access to entire content library to stream with ads.

To access the ad-free version of the platform, one needs to pay $12.99 a month or $119.99 a year for the Paramount+ Showtime package. This package also provides the user free access to Showtime's content.

The film continues from the story set up by the Knuckles spin-off series on Paramount+.

In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are back to save the world from Dr. Ivo Robotnik. But this time they face more enemies in the form of Gerald Robotnik and Shadow, who was introduced in the last film's post-credit scene.

Shadow is seeking revenge from those who wronged him, while Gerald Robotnik wants complete destruction of Earth. How will Sonic and his team stop this band of malevolent villains is what Sonic 3 is all about.

The official synopsis of the film reads:

"Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the big screen this holiday season in his most thrilling adventure yet. Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet."
