"Internalized misogyny is a disease"— Internet reacts to Billie Eilish saying it's a "war on women," allegedly about Republicans sweeping elections
One of Harris' celebrity supporters, Billie Eilish, took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, November 6, to share five simple words. The Birds of a Feather artist wrote her message over a black background, which reads:
"It's a war on women."
Fans believe that Eilish's comment, which she made after the presidential election, was about Donald Trump reportedly winning the presidency.
Hence, it sparked netizens to share their thoughts online. A Reddit user, altheawillowwisteria, talked about "internalized misogyny" in response to Billie Eilish's comment, adding that Trump's re-election will negatively affect black women, the majority of those who voted against him. Meanwhile, the user claimed, the majority of white women voted in favor of the Republicans, per the exit polls.
"Internalized misogyny is a disease. Plus, I really think many white women prioritise their whiteness above their gender. Once again, black people but especially black women will suffer the consequences of a presidency they overwhelmingly voted against," a Reddit user commented.
Some netizens agreed with the Grammy-winning singer's sentiments, saying that women have lost the war, while others noted how they can't believe this "nightmare" is back.
"It's a war on women and minorities, and we all (everyone on all sides of the issue) lost. MAGA is celebrating right now because they think they won, but they're also losing. They're huge losers. They just don't know it yet," a Reddit user said.

Other netizens took to social media to correct Billie Eilish's comment. They pointed out that, based on the exit poll graph, the majority of white women voted for Republicans.
"Huh? The graph on the page says 53% of white women voted Republican," a Reddit user pointed out.
"As a Blasian, no. White women did. Please don't lump us all together, I know what you meant but we (92%) did the work," another Reddit user commented.
Billie Eilish's alleged reaction to Donald Trump's victory comes after publicly supporting Kamala Harris
Billie Eilish and his brother Finneas previously made headlines when they publicly supported Kamala Harris for the US presidency. In their September 17 video supporting Harris, Eilish said that she picked the Democrat nominee because she "protects our reproductive freedom, our planet, and our democracy."
Billie Eilish also paused her concert at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on November 2 to urge concertgoers to vote for Kamala Harris. She said that there was "a lot at stake," and told her audience that if they are in the room with her and that they support her, it would mean they support women.
As the US wakes up to Donald Trump winning the elections, the Hit Me Hard and Soft singer's comments that Trump's victory is a "war on women" reportedly comes in the context of his take on reproductive rights.
Trump has dodged questions about whether or not he would support a national abortion ban during the presidential debate in September. However, his running mate, JD Vance, noted in NBC's 'Meet the Press' August interview that the president-elect would veto such a ban.
That said, when he was still president in 2018, Trump pushed the Senate to vote in support of banning abortions after the 20-week mark.
