"Social media is an amplifier"— Ice-T thinks rap feuds in the age of social media aren't smart

Legendary rapper turned actor Ice-T is not a fan of beefing in the rap scene, especially in today's age when social media is prevalent. While rap beef has been the talk of the town, especially in 2024, Ice-T doesn't think it's a smart move for everybody because it spoils the fun and raises tensions.

The West Coast rapper reflected on the feuds happening in the hip-hop world over the years during his interview with Boss Talk 101 on Monday, November 4. He said:

"Having beef is just not smart if you can avoid it... They didn't have social media, big difference. Social media is an amplifier to everything. It amplifies everything."

Ice-T explained that when the feud between rappers is shared on the internet, millions of people will know about it, which warrants a response from all those people. He said:

"It forces reaction that really could be squashed so much simpler."

The legendary rapper compared what rap beef was like in the previous decades to what is happening right now, saying that with social media present, such feuds can easily "escalate."

"The disses that's going on, like, I can outrap you is one thing. But when you take it to the next level, like 'When I see you it's a problem.' The problem with beef is that it can escalate away from you," he noted.

With all of that said, Ice-T doesn't think it's smart to bring rap feuds on social media where everyone else can feast on it.

"Why people have beef and take it to social media is beyond me, especially if you know a n***as' phone number."

Ice-T previously brushed off commenting on Drake-Kendrick Lamar beef, saying he's "focused on the bag"

Legendary rapper Ice-T's comments on rap feuds have been consistent—he's not interested in it. When Drake and Kendrick Lamar first made headlines with their diss tracks and lyrical shenanigans earlier this year, Ice-T publicly shared his disinterest in the rap war happening.

Instead of entertaining the diss records from the two Hip-Hop titans, he washed his hands from it, writing on X on May 3, 2024:

"I'm sorry if I'm not interested in current Rap Beef or random Male Gossip...I'm a HUSTLER. I'm only focused on the Bag."

Speaking of focusing on the "bag," he's been a mainstay in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since he joined the cast in the second season. He plays Sergeant Odafin Tutuola, aka Fin, in the cop drama, which has been going on for 26 seasons now.

The rapper-actor is also set to voice The Everloving Bush in the upcoming animated series Avenging Justice. He is also going to play the character of Spotswood in the upcoming horror thriller based on Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher titled 3 Days Rising.

The film, which is currently in post-production per its IMDb page, will be directed by Craig Cukrowski and also stars Peter Greene and the Oscar-nominated The Wrestler star Mickey Rourke.

Netflix also announced that Ice-T will be narrating the forthcoming Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson documentary. The three-part series will release its first two episodes on November 7, with the third dropping on the platform on November 12.
