Before season 2 premieres, here is a quick rundown of the show's plot and past events so fans and viewers can easily catch up with the new season.

A recap of the first nine episodes of Elsbeth Season 1

The show's first nine episodes revealed the identity of the murderer to the audience right at the beginning. Alex Modarian was arrested in the 1st episode for killing his student Olivia Cherry. Episode 2 showed the death of Gloria Blecher, in which several people were involved. The titular detective also discovered Gloria’s husband's corpse and concluded that Gloria killed him because of an affair gone wrong in episode 2.

Episode 3 showed the arrest of Skip Mason for killing Wendy Wexler, and episode 4 showed the downfall of Margo Clarke. Moving on to episode 5, which showed the arrest of Cliff McGrath and ball girl Ashlee. In episode 6, viewers witnessed the arrest of Vanessa Holmes, a plastic surgeon who killed Astrid, his rival practitioner.

Ashton Hayes, the CEO, was arrested in episode 7, Quinn Powers, an entrepreneur, was arrested in episode 8, and Joe Dillon, the bar owner, was arrested in episode 9 for killing Jane Dunhill.

Each episode's plot was most fascinating when it came to how the titular detective used her special detective skills to solve the crimes.

How was episode 10 different from all the other episodes?

Because the offender's identity was not disclosed at the start of episode 10, viewers were unaware of who it was. Hence, it took the titular detective a long time to piece together the crime in the finale, titled A Fitting Finale.

However, Elsbeth learned at the end of the episode that Ezra Tate, the victim in the last episode, was slain by designer Matteo Hart. The last episode once more demonstrated that the titular detective can solve any crime, regardless of its complexity.

Elsbeth got a permanent position by the end of season 1.

To determine whether Captain CW Wagner is implicated in corruption, the titular detective was sent to New York City, at the beginning of the show. She followed suit in each of the first season's episodes, and by the end, she had come to the conclusion that Wagner was a devoted police officer and that Lieutenant Dave Noonan was the one who was corrupt.

However, Wagner got upset when he learned that the detective was secretly investigating him throughout, and although he suspected the same, he was never sure until the end. Wagner initially asked her to go back to Chicago; however, later he changed her mind as he understood that Elsbeth was just doing her job and had no personal vendetta against him.

Therefore, in the end, Wagner asked Celetano to give his role as a full-time investigator to Elsbeth. The titular detective's pal, Officer Kaya Blanke, got promoted towards the season's end.

In season 2, viewers can anticipate the team returning to action and using Elsbeth's helpful insights to solve fresh and fascinating cases.
