Sweetpea season 1: Full list of cast

Sweetpea is a dark comedy series created by Kirstie Swain from the 2017 novel of the same name by author CJ Skuse. Ella Jones directed the series from a screenplay written by Swain, Krissie Ducker, Laura Jayne Tunbridge and Selina Lim.

The six-episode series debuted on October 10, 2024, on Sky Atlantic in the United Kingdom and on the Starz network in the United States and Canada.

Sweetpea depicts how the sweet and docile administrative assistant Rhiannon Lewis (Ella Purnell) gets consumed by murderous rage and goes on to kill the people who tormented her. The show's synopsis, as per Rotten Tomatoes, reads:

"Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression - people walk past her without a second glance. That is until she is pushed over the edge and loses control. Rhiannon’s life transforms, but can she keep her killer secret?"

Ella Purnell plays Rhiannon Lewis, a receptionist working at a local newspaper company, The Carnsham Gazette. After spending a lifetime being ignored and bullied, she goes on a killing spree and murders the people who mistreated her in life.

Ella is best known for starring in the television series Yellowjackets, Ordeal by Innocence, Belgravia and Fallout. On the big screen, she has been seen in films like Maleficent, Never Let Me Go, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Army of the Dead, Churchill and others.

Nicôle Lecky plays the successful real estate agent, Julia Blenkingsopp, in Sweetpea. She used to bully Rhiannon in high school and continues to mistreat her after they run into each other in their hometown.

Nicôle rose to prominence after writing and performing the hit play Superhoe in 2018. The play was turned into the six-part BBC Three series, Mood, in 2022. In addition to playing the lead role of Sasha Clayton, Lecky also wrote and executive produced the series.

She has also starred in other television shows like Fresh Meat, Casualty, Death in Paradise and Sense8. As a writer, she has contributed to the internet soap opera, EastEnders: E20.


3) Jon Pointing as Craig

Jon Pointing plays Craig, Rhiannon's potential love interest in the series. He previously worked at her father Tommy's construction company, and, after Tommy's death, seeks to buy the company from Rhiannon.

Jon's television credits include Plebs, Smothered, Pls Like, Big Boys and Queenie. For playing Danny in Big Boys, Jon received a BAFTA TV Award nomination in the 'Best Male Comedy Performance' category in 2023.


4) Calam Lynch as AJ

Calam Lynch stars as the newly hired junior reporter, AJ, who is very friendly with Rhiannon and treats her with respect.

Calam's film appearances include Black Beauty, Dunkirk and Benediction. Furthermore, he has played Gordon Wilson in the BBC One drama series Mrs Wilson, Camnir in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Theo Sharpe in the second season of Bridgerton.


5) Leah Harvey as Marina Farrar

Leah Harvey plays a junior detective, Marina, at the local police force. She suspects Rhiannon to be behind the series of murders taking place, but, like Rhiannon, is mostly overlooked by her colleagues.

Leah is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. The talented actress have played Salvor Hardin in the Apple TV+ series Foundation, Matelote in the miniseries Les Misérables and Marina Samarova in the Showtime series A Gentleman in Moscow. Additionally, they have also starred as Nurse Billie in the 2023 film, Tuesday.
