Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? is a new gameshow arriving on Prime Video on October 16. It's a spin on the original popular quiz game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, but instead of elementary schoolers, celebrities will be on the panel.

Adult contestants must rely on a classroom full of celebrities to help them answer eleven elementary-level questions to win a cash prize worth $100,000. And, every game show will need a game show host. Travis Kelce will be the game master for Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?

The new game show is a part of Prime Video's Winning Wednesdays programming. It joins shows Wish List Games, Buy It Now and Pop Culture Jeopardy!

Travis Kelce will host Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? game show

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end might be seen on television across the US every weekend during football season, but his new gig will see him on the small screen in a whole new way.

He will be stepping into a new role as the host of Prime Video's Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? for 20 episodes.

Prime Video released the new show's official trailer on October 1, giving a sneak peek of the NFL star in sleek suits cheerfully leading trivia and dancing in his new hosting gig. The first look also teased plenty of fun in store as Kelce and the celebrity panelist cheered on contestants to win the cash prize.

The news that Travis Kelce is cast as the host for a new iteration of the Jeff Foxworthy-hosted quiz show broke as early as March. The next month, in April, the Grotesquerie star shared his excitement about his TV hosting debut, telling Entertainment Weekly:

"I grew up loving game shows, and I'm excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?"

Kelce added at the time that it would be "entertaining" to bring in "everyone's favorite celebrities" to the show. He also shared his dream guests on the quiz show with Today in October:

"I would love to get somebody in my family up there. Either my dad or my brother, because it can get a little embarrassing if you don't know, like, the simplest of questions."

He thinks his dad "will do pretty good" on the show, while his brother, Jason, has "some pretty good trivia knowledge." Hosting the show is just the latest in Kelce's onscreen ambitions. A few weeks back, he debuted in Ryan Murphy's Grotesquerie as the mysterious orderly Ed Laclan alongside Niecy Nash-Betts.
